Matthew Ziff snagged the Best Supporting Actor Award
Matthew Ziff snagged the Best Supporting Actor Award for his role as Bo Whitlaw in “The Martial Arts Kid” at the 2015 Sunscreen Film Festival this past Saturday, May 2.
The increasingly prestigious event takes place in St. Petersburg, Florida and is one of the few associated with the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences, the group that votes on the Academy Awards.
Which makes it a pretty big deal.
“The Martial Arts Kid” also won “Best Florida Film” at the event.
“The Martial Arts Kid” tells the tale of a troubled teen named Robbie, who is sent to live with his aunt and uncle, played by Rothrock and Don Wilson. He falls in love with Rina, played by Kathryn Newton and has to deal with her ex-boyfriend Bo, the film’s bully, played by Ziff.
Played quite well, in the eyes of the Sunscreen Film Festival judges. Obviously.
Ziff seems to be making quite the name for himself. In addition to this year’s award, he also was honored as “Best Up and Coming Actor” at the 2013 Sunscreen Film Festival, for his role of “Nathan” in the film “Treachery”.
“The Martial Arts Kid” is scheduled to hit theaters soon.
